Architecture in the Roman Empire
Roman architecture derived from earlier Greek architecture. They used many of the same concepts as the Greek architects. However, the Romans did invent many of their own original structural ideas. For example, arches, aqueducts, domes, amphitheaters, and residential housing blocks, an early apartment. They used arches in many ways, for example, a triumphal arch is a monument that commemorates someone or something's life or actions. The aqueduct was one of their greatest architectural inventions. It gave them the opportunity to supply the cities with millions of gallons of clean water. One other rather odd idea was the community bath. It was the local place to bathe with your friends and family.
The Rulers that Won
There were many Roman rulers over the years that the Roman Empire existed. Some are great and smart leaders and others are tyrannical and dictator-like. Some rulers reigns lasted for years and other for only a short time. One leader, Augustus, reigned for forty years and spread his ideas throughout Rome. On the other hand, Emperor Nero only ruled for eighteen years and only benefited the Roman Empire a small amount. He executed many people, even his own mother! Every leader had his own version of ruling their empire. Many of the rulers of the Roman Empire were great, but a large handful truly didn't help their empire in anyway.
